Love Summer

Okay, I know I professed my love to summer nights but now it is just to summer in general.  Love it, love the sweet smell in the morning and the sticky sun with people all a buzz.  Love it.  Don't get me started on creeks in the summer.  In Nashville we are close to so much wooded and water areas to play.  You have to drive alittle ways but well worth it.  Love summer.

Jewelry class went awesome today.  My first jewelry class and I can't wait to do more.  It is so fun to deconstruct the pieces and make them again with new color and ideas.  I call it reconstructed costume jewelry.  No new material was consumed in this class only used.  I don't have any jewelry classes scheduled in the coming months but plan on adding some.  I do have a great schedule coming up.  I am going to post soon.   Also, looking for new homes to teach from.  If you have any ideas send em my way.

Nice day but I love June nights

Great day today.  I felt like I got a lot done.  Moved through thinks I was putting off, emails and such.  I am super close to being done on a proposal that is shaping up to be fun.  I hope it goes through, definite keep you posted.  Right now all I can say is SoundSuits!

Ah, yes I know in love!  I don't know where they have been all my life.  I am behind in most current anything even art.  I love art beyond all believe but I guess haven't been clued in to you know research or exploration or even say the power of the internet.  Hehe, I know.  Well as you can see in the juvenileness of this blog.  I just started following blogs to better understand and learn.  And boy do I like following them especial when you find a good one that connects for you.  But back to SoundSuit and Kara Walker, yes 30 Americans is coming to the Frist.

Back to the grind at Plaza this week, Jewelry class on Saturday, hope to squeeze in the Frist new car show and make plenty of REuse in the form of books with really beautiful paper, though slightly dirty.  Mom always said a little dirty don't hurt.

This night is truly beautiful, breeze and dog beside me.  Back to proposal.

Working on Jewelry demo.  I sure do like working on jewelry but am extremely slow.  I have a hard time deciding on direction and getting a flow.  I mess with everything and then have nothing.  But this class will be all about experimenting with the pieces; painting them, altering them.

This week is one mini book a day on my Etsy site.  Second picture is yesterdays book, i am a mountain.  I had a busy day yesterday even locked my self out of house!

Painting from a series I did titled The Dirt of our Landscape, The Landscape of our Dirt.  You can check out more from that series here on my website, www.courtneyadairjohnson.com

Have a great Friday!

Moving the rainbow today!  To the Puppet Float to ride in the Puppet Parade!!

Learning my job....

New job, Me, Yep, I am my new job!  I have been finishing up my big June projects this week and am learning how to work for my self.  To be organized, motivated and inspired.

Yesterday I photographed mini books for Etsy.  I am going to do a post a day on my Etsy page to try and drive some sales, action, something.  Working on ways to sale art work and find customers.

Questions is also what do I really want to make or be.  What is my brand?  Making my self professional.  Ha!  but not Ha for real!!  Sometimes I feel behind on that but other times my game

doesn't seem so bad.

Now on to Project of the Day.  Build a demo for jewelry class coming up next Saturday, June 29th 10 to 3pm.  Then take pictures and post when done.  It is a class on using jacquard paints to add patinas to metal and plastic.  We will construct a necklace or bracelet out of costume jewelry pieces that we custom altered, all REuse except paint.  All supplies provided just bring wire cutters and pliers, Only $65.00, if anyone is interested, email me at artandrecycling@gmail.com
